Curcumin decreases gastric secretion and increases mucin content of the stomach. Thus, it promotes peptic ulcer healing and decreases the abdominal pain involved. It also exerts gastroprotective effects against ulcer formation induced by stress, alcohol, indomethacin, etc.

Curcumin is a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient.  It inhibits COX-2, nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB)    activation and the arachidonic acid metabolism which are involved in inflammation.
