Papaya and platelet count
From the various reports published in scientific literature, the flavonoids and phenols present in the papaya leaf extract does have beneficial properties in platelet. It has been shown to bring about a rapid increase in platelet count that could be attributed to its membrane-stabilizing property. The extract of papaya leaves has been shown to increase ALOX12 (arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase or platelet type lipoxygenase) by 15 times. This enzyme promotes platelet production via the increased number and differentiation of megakaryocytes in bone marrow.

According to the results of clinical trials, papaya leaf extracts have been found to be effective in treating thrombocytopenia caused by conditions such as dengue hemorrhagic fever, liver cirrhosis, neonatal thrombocytopenia, and drugs like chemotherapeutics, immunosuppressants, and anti-platelets. Therefore, they can help alleviate symptoms associated with thrombocytopenia, such as nose and gum bleeding, petechiae, purpura, and ecchymosis.

Papaya and tumor
The research study demonstrated that papaya leaf extract can mediate a Th 1 type shift in human immune system, results suggested that it can provide the treatment and prevention of tumor and various allergic disorders.
